Money Laundering “Car Wash” Operation: court defenses try to quit investigation

Despite recent decisions validated by the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) , Judge Sergio Moro, Judge in charge of the Money Laundering “Car Wash Operation” (Petrobras Scancal) processes, know that the record of major operations against white-collar crimes in Brazil is not anything positive. Jackal, Satyagraha, Kaspar, Switzerland, “Boi Barrica” and Sand Castle Federal Policte Operations, to name a few, were annihilated investigations in the higher Brazilian courts. In many cases, there was even a reversal of roles: Investigators became investigated just as defendants became executioners.
