Upon sharing the many articles on hijaab on my page from intelligent and reliable sources, it has led me to thinking that i have my own part to play in the contribution of this knowledge to the ummah and hence i got my inspiration to write my own piece on headwear .... As a designer of islamic headwear I felt it was imperative to put together something for the greater future of the headwear industry inshAllah . Some thing of my own thoughts and in my own words yet something that is simple and understandable for all to read on a wide scope with a common ground so it can be truly appreciated. Internationally, there is a common misconception that exists which allows Muslims to use the word hijaab for the headwear. The proper word is called Khimar (arabic) and Dobatta (urdu) it is important that we distinguish between hijaab and khimar so that the words can be used in its correct context and inshaAllah be used in the way it was intended by Allah swta HIJAAB refers to the general attitude and outlook of a person both male or female... Hijaab also refers to the purity of the heart , modesty of our actions, chastity in our conduct and obeying the dress code that is chaste and modest which Allah swta has specially decreed for us to follow. Now we can see how the use of this word to describe the heardwear worn by a muslima can be extremely out of context and misleading In fact associating hijaab with females alone is quite absurd for Allah swta has in fact first made mention of hijaab in reference to men before women in Al Qura`an Surah al Nur Ayah 30 ... {say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty :that will make for greater purity for them :and ALLAH (swt) is well acquainted with all that they do :The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind he should lower his gaze} Mashallah the way that Allah(swt) has protected females in Islam and I say alhamdulillah to the men who carries this Hijaab with them in their daily lives. May Allah (swt) shower them with his choicest mercies and blessings. The very next Aayah 31 of surah Al Nur now addresses Hijaab with reference to women "And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty ;that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily )appear thereof ;that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands ,their fathers ,and their husbands` fathers,their sons.} This Aayah states and illustrates to us that ISLAM has uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Alhamdulillah we were given Equality status in hijaab.This is our treasured jewels from Allah swta . We do not have to fight for it, it is now left for us as females to fully grasp its meaning and know its` worth so that it can be implemented in our daily lives InshAllah, A Muslim Woman has been Defined in the Qur'an and Sunnah as the backbones of society, they take full responsibility for maintaining and promoting morality in their homes. It is therefore of grave importance that they conduct themselves in the most suitable manners associated with hijaab. Some sisters are often seen properly attired with khimar and its leaves a clear picture for all to see that they are making a definite statement of having self respect for Islam and also of showing respect for others so much so as to be addressed as "THE FLAGS OF ISLAM "" In aspiring to address this as our obvious identity and keep the flag flying, quite like our favorite recipes from a favorite author on the best foods, so to I have extended my Flavor in words to delight the palate of those sisters who see the headwear as a task and not as a delight and also for the media to dismiss the derogatory terms that they associate with khimar such as "oppressed" and "terrorist." I have to admit that with the passage of time and with changing modern fashion trends more young women are finding difficulty in trying to strike a balance between fashion and modesty. Alhamdulillah i have to say I have found a working solution to encourage muslim women of every age group to dress properly and to be enthusiastic about doing so.I know it is a very sensitive issue and I just cannot sit back and bask in the healing waters of my own compassionate feelings when it comes to headwear (khimar) it is not sufficient for me anymore.It is my duty now inshAllah to help others stay encouraged and to embrace and pursue the love for the khimar. We all have our own trademark recipes and i`m passing on what i have learnt....InshAllah . In both Bukhari and Muslim there is one hadith where Rasoolullah sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam stated,that modesty is part of faith and indeed modesty and imaan are companions, whoever lifts one lifts the other. So keep firm your Imaan in your heart knowing there is a great blessing always try to remember this little story ... ........................when Sayyidah Asma Radi Allah Anha went to Rasoolullah sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam whilst wearing thin clothing he said O Asma when a girl reaches her menstrual age it is not proper for her that anything remain exposed except this and this. The Prophet Sallallaahu Alaihi wa sallam pointed to the face and hands..Alhamdulillah it was said in the simplest manner there is no questioning ...InshAllah ... "The successful woman is one wearing khimar walking with 70,00 angels guarding her where ever she goes she is supplicated for, she is praised by her husband, she is loved by her neighbors and she is respected by her friends" let us bring about this self confidence and this beautiful awareness in ourselves regardless of our age and let us gain more from this life and cherish what is given to us in Islam.... ..... BE DRESSED BEAUTIFULLY IN THE SIGHT OF ALLAH (swt) ...inshallah Upon conclusion I hope my humble effort with this message spreads out as far as through out the ummah as possible and that Allah swta be pleased with me and grant me his mercies and blessings in his sight.
