Gosia Pałach My name is Gosia Palach, I am a volunteer and I am asking you for assistance, for help in saving the life of Kuba Szlachcic, a boy who at the age of 11 was diagnosed with cancer: stage IV neuroblastoma. From that moment on he is no longer a regular,
Read more ... happy, carefree teenager. He has friends…friends from the hospital ward, who - just like him - are bold…It happens often that after yet another treatment Kuba asks his parents to drive him to the cemetery. He wants to visit a friend who passed away and whose funeral he could not attend because he was in the hospital himself. It’s hard to talk about a carefree childhood in case of someone whose second home is a hospital. And it is even more difficult when only one child in five gets the chance to live. Kuba has gone through 8 cycles of strong chemotherapy treatments, he had a surgery to remove a lump from his chest, then a transplant and radiotherapy…only to then have the cancer relocate to his head. The surgery to remove it was successful and his fight continues. However, neuroblastoma is a really mean form of cancer and very difficult to treat. It also is the childhood cancer that returns most often. Kuba’s body is really strong, exceptionally strong. If he is able to build a wall that the illness will not be able to penetrate, he will win. To allow that to happen he needs a therapy with monoclonal antibodies anti-GD2. This is what will allow him to put up that wall. You can read Kuba’s story here: http://l.facebook.com/l/zAQHe0zGjAQHqlF4vWAVUI4vLkW1Cj1UzseeqeoGIya2xfA/www.kubaszlachcic.blogspot.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/PomozmyKubie/timeline?ref=page_internal
This therapy is available at a clinic in Greifswald in Germany. The equation is simple and simply brutal – the cost is EUR 143,500. The amount left to be collected is over 300,000 polish zloty. Every day is a gift but also a threat that the illness will come back. Please – help save Kuba’s life – he cannot do it on his own, even with such strong will to live. He is only 13 years old. I often think this horrible illness could have found me. Or someone from my family. It did not and I hope it never will and I wish that for everyone. But I also wish Kuba health and I hope his path will cross with those of some good souls who can help him. I hope YOU will be one of them.
