Way of Life Kilombo Village Students in Joburg want to come to Kilombo As a group of students from various institutions in gauteng(that is UJ, Wits, UP, TUT, UNISA and others) who believe ourselves engaged in revolutionary gestures and hoping to escalate the revolution to high Read more ... er forms, we believe that, that can only come through clarity of ideology. To make this point clearer, we refer to the two youth-led campaigns in the past two years: the Rhodes Must Fall and the Fees Must Fall campaigns. The Cape Colony youth, both Western and Eastern, made extra-ordinary leaps, displaying amazing ideological clarity through their leadership. Gauteng on the other hand met with conundrums which we believe to be due to ideological incoherence. An example is to be found in how when the UJ and Wits students combined to target Luthuli House, that came to an anti-climax as the group allowed Charterist leadership to lead Fees Must Fall in PYA members who misled students, away from an otherwise revolutionary campaign aimed at Luthuli House. Again students let these to demobilize them in Tshwane (Pretoria), at the Afrikaaner/England Union Buildings, where we had the most numbers and an opportunity for a historic onslaught, at least against this anti-Black regime, even if it would not be the same as liberation, it could have sparked protests the country over. We believe that had more students in leadership positions, or not, been more ideologically clear, such decampaigns, demobilizations could have been avoided. In pursuit of a principled unity of Black youth and Black people, via university students who must see the need to involve the community and keep in mind the fundamental contradiction - the land, as well as looking to remedy our social position as Black people. The youth must see the necessity for us to end the world as we know it. In closing, we believe that Kilombo Village can help us achieve our goals as it can help us bond ideologically, as well as provide invaluable political education for Gauteng based students to also collectively reach a conscious level. However, currently we are struggling to find a way to Cape Town colony and so cannot get to Kilombo. Lilonke, we kindly request sponsorship for transport from Gauteng to Cape Town for this historic event. Anything will do. The contact person in Joburg is a student at UJ. Cleo.
