Read more ... cessories comes from the battery. Not the alternator. The alternator only serves to replace the power that gets depleted from the battery. If you consider the fact that you can be running your engine and the alternator can quit charging and everything will continue to operate as normal until the reserve power in the battery is depleted below where operation is possible. In older vehicles that used generators with regulators, the battery could be disconnected and a properly working generator could maintain enough power to continue operation of electrical components . Even then, when everything was working properly, the flow of electrical current went from the generator to the battery through the regulator and power was drawn through the battery.
