CONTROLLED BURNING, Today: Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch will be conducting controlled burns in training areas E20 (17 miles WNW of the Fort Stewart cantonment area) and E11 (14 miles WNW of the Fort Stewart cantonment area). Flames will not be visible from Georgia Highway 144. Motorist and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling through areas that may be affected by smoke. PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY, Today: The Fort Stewart and Hunter AAF Army Substance Abuse Program in coordination with the Chatham County Office of the Drug Enforcement Agency will host a “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” on Thursday, 10a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Commissaries. All Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees, Civilian Employees and community members are encouraged to turn in all unused or expired prescribed medication for proper disposal. MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING (MADD) IMPACT PRESENTATION, today: MADD's Impact presentation on Hunter will be held at the Post Theater April 24, 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Commanders are encouraged to send as many Soldiers as possible to this very important training opportunity. TRAINING RESOURCE CONFERENCE, April 29: S-3's, Operations Sergeants Major, Master Gunners and Schools NCO's are reminded that the next monthly Training Resource Conference will be held Tuesday, April 29, 9:30 a.m., at MOON THEATER. The next conference will not be until May 27. We will schedule training devices, ranges and training areas up through October 2014.
EVENING FRG Treasurer Class, April 29: Join the ACS Mobilization and Deployment team as we conduct an evening FRG Treasurer training event. Learn the rules of the FRG Informal fund, how to maintain accuracy and all the reporting requirements. The FRG Informal fund is a easy way for FRG’s to have funds available so learn the rules. AMMUNITION AMENSTY DAY, April 30: The Logistics Readiness Center in conjunction with the Installation Safety Office is scheduling an Ammunition Amnesty Day April 30 from 1– 4 p.m. at the Range Tower on Hwy 144 and GA 47, Sunbury Road. During this event, Soldiers and Units may turn in ammunition. Unit Commanders are required to schedule Ammunition Amnesty Days at least once per quarter and at the end of major field exercises. Units will still be required to schedule Amnesty Days after major field exercises and provide supporting documentation to G4 and the Installation Safety Office to fully meet this requirement. NCO INDUCTION CEREMONY, May 1: The 385th Military Police Battalion conducts an NCO Induction Ceremony, May 1, 1 p.m. in Woodruff Theater. All are invited to attend this event welcoming eighteen new Noncommissioned officers into the time honored corps which is the backbone of the Army.
INSTALLATION PASS TESTED AT STEWART, May 1-8: Fort Stewart’s Directorate of Emergency Services will run a test for vetting Non-Department of Defense Card holders requesting access to Fort Stewart. During this test, all non-DoD card holders are required to apply for a gate pass at Gate 1, that will be good for the remainder of the week at all gates except for deliveries at Gate 7C. Individuals who need the Pass should park at Gate 1 and apply for their pass at Building 102 . The person will need to provide a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and an ID for each passenger in the vehicle. All personnel must have their IDs checked against the Post BAR list. If all the information is valid and acceptable, an installation pass will be granted. All Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees, and DA Civilians must present their DoD identification card to gain entry to Fort Stewart at all gates, even if they are in Uniform. This test does not affect Hunter Army Airfield.
HUNTER FIRE WARDEN CLASS, May 1: The next HAAF fire warden’s class will be held May 1 at 9 a.m. in Fire Station Number 2 Building 1295. All attendees are asked to bring a unit appointment letter stating they are the assigned fire warden for their unit/location with building number identified. RECYCLING DRIVE-THRU, May 7, 8: In support of the Annual Spring Cleanup, the DPW Environmental Recycling Program is holding a Drive-Thru recyclable collection. Each collection will have stations for small scrap metal items, electronics (no TVs above 19”), Hazardous Waste, Used Cooking Oil, and Paper/PII documents for shredding. IF YOU HAVE PCS'D: If you have moved and are no longer assigned to Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield, follow these instructions to change your duty location. Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc). On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location. Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.
