Mian Mir's full name was Mir Muhammad and he followed the Qadri sect of Sufism Read more ... in the regime of Mughal emperor Shah Jehan in the 16th century. His tomd is situated now in the vicinity of Dharampura, Lahore. My friend Shaukat, who does magic shows and puppet shows in private schools and earns Rs 3,000 per show, called me one day and asked in a weak voice where I was. I told him I was in the Punjab University Library. He told me to come right away to Mian Mir's tomb: Shaukat had slipped and fallen on the tomb premises and his right hand had been fractured.
I went there and called 1122, took Shaukat to Sergimed Hospital on Zafar Ali Road and came back again to the tomb. Here I made the acquaintance of a malang in a green cloak. He invited me to share his fitar meal (it was Ramzan) and I sat down beside him.
I asked, "Baba ji why are you living at this shrine?"
He sighed and said his sons had thrown him out of his house on behalf of their wives. Baba ji had been living here ever since (it had been a decade). Here, by the grace of Baba Mian Mir, he had acquired "Noori Islamic Knowledge."
"What is the difference between Noori Knowledge and black magic?" I asked.
"Black magic is usually done by Christians"
He said noori knowledge was based on the verses of the Holy Quran whereas black magic was beyond the Quran. "Practitioners of Noori Knowledge have posterity, whereas practitioners of black magic don't. Also, black magic is usually done by Christians." One outcome of Baba ji's Noori Knowledge was that he now prayed for people's fertility, and his prayers often came true.
Shah Hussain was born in 1539 to a family of the Dhata Rajput tribe. His father, Shaikh Usman, was a weaver by profession and the family remained financially insecure throughout Shah Hussain's childhood. Before the age of 10, Shah Hussain became a hafiz of the Holy Quran. Then he went to Chiniot to learn Fana and Sufism. He came back to Lahore and lived a controversial life till his last breath.

In Lahore Shah Hussain is said to have fallen in love with one Madho Lal, a boy who came from a Hindu Brahmin family. Some people began to consider them a homosexual couple. It is said that one day they were sleeping both together when Madho's relatives came to kill them both but were blinded. This was taken to be an indication of the couple's regard for truth and integrity. Shah Hussain and Madho Lal became known as "Madho Lal Hussain" posthumously - a compound name that suggests the merging of their identities in the afterlife. Shah Hussain wrote Punjabi kafis that are still sung by artistes such as Abida Parveen and Ustad Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan. Hussain died in 1599 and is buried in Lahore near the Shalamar Gardens. Madho Lal died long after Shah Hussain. Every year the Mela Chiraghan (Festival of Lamps) takes place here and people visit the shrine from all over the country.
Once my wife and I went to Madho Lal's shrine because we were both in financial difficulty. In the lawn of the shrine we prayed for improved circumstances and ate and distributed chawal channay here among malangs and some devotees who came for their mannats and chillas. I met a dervish here who looked like a pir. He was sitting on a dirty rug near a grave adjacent to the shrine. His long hair was filled with dust and oil. He wore a red kurta and white shalwar and had a long beard. He was telling someone about Sufism. I too sat there. (My wife decided to go home on a rickshaw in her angry mood, saying that this was a waste of her time.)
I said to the dervish, "Why are you sitting near a grave and what are you telling these people secretly?"

He said he had come here for a 40-day "chilla" and his motive was to attain mental calm. "These people" - he gestured at the people who had been interviewing him before me - "are asking me if puffing hashish-filled cigarettes is allowed in Sufism but I told them it's bad for all mental levels. They are saying hashish is "Qalandri-smoke" and it's not, it's just something that affects your mind and body and makes you weak."
I said, "Baba ji why are you sitting near a grave when there are other places here for sitting...?"
He replied, "I sit near a grave because it reminds me of death. I fear the materialism of this mortal world." He went on to say that everything in this world is artificial and everything is "fanaa-able" before the day of judgement.
I asked, "Do you take money from people who ask to you to pray for them?"
He said, "No, I don't beg for money but if anybody gives it to me then I take it gladly. People come here, distribute niaz and shirini among devotees who fulfill their wishes."
I asked, "Do you have more men or women coming to you for help?"
He said, with a bit of a smile, that women came in greater numbers because they have more problems than men in this cruel society. "But I always pray for both men and women in the same manner."
I asked, "DId you marry?"
He replied, "Yes I married my cousin but she divorced me as I was not to her mental level."

I Mehajabeen Khatoon D/o Late Md. Riyaz Haq, age: 28 years now I am residing at my sister’s house , Aliya khatoon Parveen, W/o syeed bin ahmed Age 30 Years R/o 18-11-30/90/98/A, mumtaz bagh, near Bandlaguda, Hyderabad.
I submit that in the year 1999 one Mujeeb Pahelwan @ Mohsin Ali Khan S/o Qamar Uddin Khan @ Chan Pahelman R/o Jahanuma, Hyderabad, Telangana State, kidnapped me, raped me and married me by putting Knife and other forces when I am residing at Bi Bi Chashma, Jahanuma, Hyderabad. Basically my family migrated from Darjiling to here very long back.
I submit that prior to kidnap me, Mujeeb Pahelwan kidnapped my sister Asia and he enjoyed with my sister for a period of one month add. The same reported concerned police and with the involvement of the police officials and others released my sister from the clutches of Mujeeb Pahelwan.
I submit that this period our family staying at Jahanuma area which was own house. Mujeeb Pahelwan looted and grabbed our house. Now we are taking shelter in different places as a tenant and frequently we are changing houses due to threats of Mujeeb Pahelwan –cum- Rowdy sheeter. Sometimes we are taking shelter at Dargas also.
I submit that Mujeeb Pahelwan, his father's duty was to search for a beautiful ladies, and they simply, they kidnap that girls/ladies and they enjoy for certain period and took all signatures on white papers along with her family members and threat them not to approach any person for help or justice. Sometimes they used to murder them and buried in their premises. On one incident the police recovered dead bodies from their premises also.
I submit that since 15 years I am suffering lot by these people. These persons attacked at my father with rods and other harmful weapons on his head and my father became paralyzed but No doctor treated my father due to fear and threat from these persons, so we shifted to Kolkata and my father have undergone a treatment and we again came back to Hyderabad but again these people attacked my father with knifes and he died in that incident.
I submit that end of the February 2015 Mujeeb Pahelwan and others entered into school GOOD FAITH, at JAHANUMA AREA, HYDERABAD premises and kidnapped my children named YAYA KHAN 14 years who was studying 10th class and Alisha who was studying 5th class. YAHIYA KHAN did not attended 10th final exams because of KIDNAP. On fear and threats we didn’t approach your authority and I ran away from this place. Few days back I CAME BACK with the support of senior advocate and I am filling this complaint for recovery of my children dead bodies or with live from the clutches of Mujeeb Pahelwan –cum- Rowdy sheeter, R/o Jahanuma, Hyderabad.
I submit that from March 2015 searching me and attacking on my sister house with powerful weapons like rods, talwars knifes and guns. Which are illegal and harmful weapons the same was reported to police on 14-5-2015, Mujeeb Pahelwan and others attacked with talwar on sisters husband he received bleeding injuries and he reported same to the police station Mailar devapalli, cyberabad, Hyderabad.
I submit that today 25-5-2015 at between 8 to 9 AM Mujeeb Pahelwan, Kamaran , Madahankhan entered into my sister’s house and dropped my daughter Alisha by threatening that I should surrender to him and his demands otherwise he will kill my daughter and me and gave me an hour to decide. But in the meanwhile I went to Nampalli Criminal Court for appearance in crime number 144 of 2004 on the file of women’s police station Ghansan Bazar , Hyderabad. The same was informed by my sister further I submit that about 10 AM (25-5-2015) again Mujeeb Pahelwan and others attacked my sister’s house with dangerous weapons including talwar terrorizing my sister and dragged my daughter Alisha it is nothing but kidnapping, pushed into the vehicle by closing my daughter’s mouth to brought Mehajaben within a few hours otherwise he threaten that he will burn my daughter alive.
Hence I request you to take immediate action against Mujeeb Pahelwan and his associates and to release my son YAHIYA KHAN and daughter ALISHA from Rowdy sheter Mujeeb Pahelwan who kidnapped. If you won’t take immediate action we will loose our life in the hands of Mujeeb Pahelwan.

AHMEDABAD – Retired deputy inspector general of police DG Vanzara, who was granted bail in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case by a special court in the city recently, will finally be released from custody on Wednesday. The delay in his release was caused due to another bail granted to him in Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case by a Mumbai court.
Vanzara was granted bail in the case on February 5, but could not be released immediately. In September 2014, the Bombay high court had also granted him bail in the Sohrabuddin case. This bail had not been executed. Hence, last week, his lawyers first prepared the process for executing the bail order in Mumbai, which delayed his release.
Vanzara had been in custody for nearly 8 years when the special Central Bureau of Investigation court here granted him bail.
So who is Vanzara really?
Known to be close to then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Vanzara’s career graph shot up in the early 2000s. The 1987 batch IPS officer was famous as an encounter specialist from his days as the head of Crime Branch and few would have thought that the “encounter” of a small-time Madhya Pradesh criminal would not only bring on his downfall, but that of men more powerful than him.
Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi were taken off a bus in November 2005 by members of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and other policemen, and were taken to a farmhouse near Ahmedabad, where they were held hostage.
A few days later, Sohrabuddin was allegedly taken to a highway and shot dead. Kausarbi disappeared. Vanzara was the head of Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad at the time, leading a team of encounter specialists. From 2002 on, Vanzara had had many such “encounters” to his credit. Each time he described the people killed as terrorists out to kill Modi. After the Sohrabuddin killing Vanzara held a Press conference and said the man killed had been a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist and was plotting to assassinate Modi.
A year before Sheikh was killed, in June 2004, the 19-year-old student Ishrat Jahan was shot dead along with three other people on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in June 2004. Her mother said Ishrat was the victim of a “fake encounter”. The police said she was a Lashkar-e-Toiba operative. Vanzara was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad.
After Vanzara’s arrest, other similar dubious killings came to light. There was one Samir Khan, killed in Usmanpura, Ahmedabad in 2002. Sadik Jamal of Bhavnagar, killed in 2003 and whose parents insist it was a fake encounter.
In December 2006, Tulsi Prajapati, said to be an accomplice of Sohrabuddin and a police informer, was also killed in an encounter in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. Prajapati was said to be a witness in the Sohrabuddin case. Days before Prajapati was killed, Vanzara was transferred to the Border Range Police, which has jurisdiction over Banaskantha district where Prajapati was killed.
Vanzara was the Deputy Inspector General of Gujarat Police, Border Range, when he was arrested a few months later, but his closeness to Modi made him the most powerful cop in the state. The news of his arrest was greeted with disbelief everywhere.
Vanzara was arrested in April 2007 by the Gujarat Crime Investigation Department (CID). The CID sought court permission to conduct a narco-analysis test on Vanzara. The suspended cop pleaded in court that he had a heart ailment and his lawyer argued that chemicals injected would adversely affect his health.
During his early days in jail, Vanzara had been quoted as saying that he could not read newspapers or watch television, but was motivated by the discourses of a guru, Asaram Bapu. Vanzara even said he was doing yoga prescribed by the guru.
By then, the CID had begun excavations at Vanzara’s farmhouse in Ilol village in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district. The CID suspected that Sohrabuddin’s wife, Kausar Bi had been poisoned and then taken to Vanzara’s village and was burnt there. They later searched ravines near Ilol too, but Kausarbi’s body was never found.
Hounded by media persons during his court appearances and asked about Kausarbi, Vanzara would only say, “Who Kausar?”
Two years later, in 2008, there were reports that Vanzara and another cop arrested in the Sohrabuddin case, NK Amin, had attacked each other with cricket bats at the Sabarmati jail. Jail inmates were quoted as saying that Amin accused Vanazara of being responsible for them being in jail. Amin has recently said he would like to turn approver in the case.
