For the second straight game, the Spurs forward had been the best player on the court. Aldridge went 18-for-23 and scored 38 points in Saturday night’s rout of the Thunder in Game 1, so it was expected Aldridge would come back down to Earth, at least somewhat, in Game 2.
Instead, Aldridge was even better. He finished with 41 points in 43 minutes, including making a three-pointer and getting fouled on another to score six points inside the final 30 seconds of regulation and set up the insanity that was the final 13.5 seconds, which the Thunder survived to tie the series as it heads to Oklahoma City for Game 3 Friday night.
And it’s quite likely Aldridge could be in for another big night. Why? Because the Thunder is content to let Aldridge try to win this series on his own.
