Surat Singh Khalsa, 82 years old, has been on a hunger strike since January 16, 2015, in Punjab, India. The purpose of this hunger strike is to create awareness for Sikh political prisoners in India, who despite completing their given sentences, are still being kept in jail. Having been forced fed under police detention at Civil Hospital in Ludhiana since early February with a feeding tube stitched to his forehead, he was released on April 23, 2015 and continues his hunger strike at home in Hassanpur, India. We urge everyone to please help us create awareness for Surat Singh Khalsa's struggle to free Sikh political prisoners in India and help expose Punjab's continued, blatant human rights violations.

They forced him onto a stretcher and when this occurred, his turban fell off from his head and onto the ground. He is now being held at Civil Hospital in Ludhiana. The team of doctors has been constantly forcing him to break his hunger strike for the sake of his health. At the hospital, he had fallen on the floor unconscious for fifteen minutes. This is all being orchestrated by the corrupt Punjab government. By forcing this upon him, they are violating his human rights. What is the right of a Sikh in Punjab when an elderly Sikh man can't even peacefully protest against the wrongdoings of the government?
