Surat Singh Khalsa, 82 years old, has been on a hunger strike since January 16, 2015, in Punjab, India. The purpose of this hunger strike is to create awareness for Sikh political prisoners in India, who despite completing their given sentences, are still being kept in jail. Having been forced fed under police detention at Civil Hospital in Ludhiana since early February with a feeding tube stitched to his forehead, he was released on April 23, 2015 and continues his hunger strike at home in Hassanpur, India.
