The United States and its Western Allies believed that the Duterte administration’s war on drugs was tainted with "extra-judicial killings."

A sudden stop in operation by these American-owned business institutions and financial aids, in $ billions of dollars, will bring the Philippine economy to its knees, accdg to a UP (University of the Philippines) economics professor. She added, "China will be glad to take in more American businesses from the Philippines".
