Lynn Johnston My post is not here in Posts to Page. I will repeat it CNN grossly and knowingly misrepresented the Pikes Peak Humane Society in a story this week. The HSPPR is an excellent agency and does not deserve the implied accusations in that story. First Read more ... , it was implied that the Humane Society had seized two dogs with little or no evidence and no due process. This is completely false. Local law gives pet owners the right to a hearing in situations such as this, and the hearing was done. The judge ruled that there was adequate evidence to justify holding the dogs. Secondly, CNN implied that the Humane Society had charged the owner of the dogs upwards of $11,000. Not true. The Humane Society charged the owner $250 and no more, to cover the boarding of the 2 dogs. Any other charges the owner faced were not related to the Humane Society. I am very disturbed to see such a good agency maligned unjustly by aTV network I have always trusted! CNN has cast doubt on everything they report by this misleading story.

Specifically, you implied in your story that the Humane Society had seized two dogs without evidence against them, and without due process. The truth is very different. The dogs' owner was entitled to a hearing before a judge, which was done as required. The judge evaluated the evidence and felt it was adequate to hold the dogs. Secondly, you implied that the Humane Society had charged the owner $11,000. The fact is that the Humane Society charge was $250 and no more. As allowed by law, the owner moved her dogs to a private kennel after 4 days at the Humane Society shelter. Any charges beyond the $250 had nothing to do with the Humane Society. I find this very disturbing because I have always had a lot of faith in your reporting but am shocked at your gross and deliberate misrepresentation of the facts in this case.
