Las llamas están a pocos kilómetros de quemar los seres vivos más antiguos del planeta, los alerces, algunos con casi 3.000 años de vida. “El Alerzal” es patrimonio natural de la nación y merece serlo del mundo. Además de la muerte de huemules (ciervos) y otras especies de animales y vegetales autóctonas únicas en el mundo. En Chubut hay inmensos incendios en Cholila, Río Turbio, Río Pico, a lo que se suman focos intencionales en Parque Nacional Lago Puelo, El Bolson, Epuyen, Bariloche, Cerro Amigo, etc. El incendio de bosques que se registra en Chubut se transformó en el más importante del que se tenga registro. Los bosques no paran de arder desde hace 15 días. Hoy la estimación era de 30.000 hectáreas de bosques calcinados, sin incluir otros dos incendios de magnitud, sobre los que no se tienen estimaciones. "No hay duda que varios de estos incendios son intencionales y están vinculados con el negocio inmobiliario porque los propietarios de tierras quieren lotear para construir y como no lo pueden hacer porque los árboles son patrimonio del Estado, los hacen desaparecer", señaló un alto funcionario. Entretanto especialistas consideraron que la "intencionalidad" no siempre está vinculada con segundos intereses sino lisa y llanamente con la torpeza. "Muchas veces son pobladores que encienden un fuego para quemar raleos y se les va de las manos" explicaron en Defensa Civil.
