Your program states that this took place "in the Nevada desert" and "Nevada salt plains". The race actually took place in Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. This location is south of the Great Salt Lake which was once Bonneville Lake, which evaporated leaving the salt. It is east of Wendover, Nevada.
