Filmed with #Gopro Hero Cameras set up as trap cams, attached to #Joby Gorillapods. Cameras were controlled by remote from my blind. Animals are wild and not baited. This is over a week of footage, I've learned so much about the Woodchuck. They're incredibly clean, playful and affectionate. There are at least 5 chambers to their living quarters that I can identify. A nursery/sleeping quarters, bathroom, emergency exit, flooding zone and hibernation chamber. Woodchucks a.k.a. Groundhogs, use the flood chamber for when it rains.. It's located high above the other entrances. I've seen the mother call to her young with a whistle before a rainstorm leading them to it. She also would escort everyone to the bathroom chamber, training them to keep the sleeping quarters clean. At this stage, she has begun weening the babies from her. She watches from a distance now, out of sight so they can learn to take care of themselves. Any day now they will be off on their own. I'm very happy to have gotten to know them better.
