Senator Jeanne Shaheen Senator Shaheen recently sat down with Refinery29 to discuss her legislation to provide basic rights for survivors of sexual assault and the importance of the 2016 election for young women. In the interview Shaheen said:
"The legislation that we wor Read more ... ked on is an effort to make the system work better for victims of sexual assault. There are some basic supports that every survivor of sexual assault ought to be entitled to. They ought to be able to know what’s available to them; they ought to be able to get the results of the rape kit; that testing should be able to be done for them. The rape kit should be preserved for the same amount of time as the statute of limitations on sexual assault, and they should be able to access the results of any analysis.”
